 DAY 1

Malta to Tirana | We meet at Malta International Airport at 04:45 for our departure on flight FR 6339 at 07:50, arriving at Tirana International Airport at 09:20. Upon arrival, we transfer to Tirana city and check in at our centrally located 4-star hotel. In the afternoon, our tour leader will guide us on an introductory walk to explore the vibrant capital of Albania. For those interested, an optional excursion by cable car is available to the Dajti Mountains, located just 20 minutes from the city, offering panoramic views of Tirana and beyond. Afterward, the evening is free for dinner or to discover the city at your own pace.

  DAY 2

Kruja & Surroundings | After breakfast, we set out to explore the historic town of Kruja, renowned as the birthplace of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg. We stroll through the Old Bazaar, where traditional crafts, souvenirs, and local specialties create a vibrant atmosphere. Our journey continues to Sarisalltik Mountain, offering breathtaking panoramic views and a chance to capture memorable photos. Here, you may also visit a small Bektashi temple, a place of spiritual significance. We then return to Tirana, where the evening is at leisure to enjoy dinner or further explore the city at your own pace.

 

DAY3

Shala River & Komani Lake | Today we embark on an unforgettable excursion to the Shala River and Komani Lake, often described as the “Thailand of Europe” for its breathtaking natural beauty. We leave the hotel early, at around 05:30, and drive towards Komani, with comfort stops along the way for coffee and refreshments. From here, we board a boat for a one-hour scenic ride across the lake, surrounded by dramatic mountains and crystal-clear waters. Upon arrival at the Shala River, we take time to explore this idyllic area, where you can relax, enjoy a drink, or have lunch by the river’s edge. In the afternoon, we return by boat to rejoin our coach for the journey back to Tirana. The evening is free to enjoy dinner or explore the city at leisure.

 

DAY 4

Berat, the “City of a Thousand Windows | After breakfast, we set out towards Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Albania’s most picturesque towns. On the way, we make a short stop of about 30 minutes in Belsh village, where you can enjoy a coffee, use facilities, and take photos of the charming lake. We then continue to Berat Castle, a remarkable hilltop fortress offering stunning views and rich history. Afterward, we explore the traditional quarters of Berat village, with its distinctive Ottoman-era architecture and lively atmosphere. Here, you may also enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before we return to Tirana. The evening is free to relax, dine, or discover more of the city at your own pace. & free evening (optional)

 DAY 5

Shkodër & the North of Albania | After breakfast, we travel north to the historic city of Shkodër, one of the oldest and most culturally rich towns in Albania. If conditions permit, we will visit the impressive Rozafa Castle, perched on a hilltop and offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. We also enjoy a short boat ride along the Buna River, a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the region. Afterwards, we explore Shkodër’s charming town centre, with its lively squares, pedestrian streets, and distinctive architecture reflecting Venetian and Ottoman influences. In the late afternoon, we return to Tirana for a relaxing evening at leisure.

  DAY 2

Gjirokastër & the Blue Eye | Today we enjoy one of the most fascinating excursions of the trip, with a full-day journey to Gjirokastër and the stunning Blue Eye Spring, often described as one of Albania’s natural pearls. Our first stop will be at the impressive Gjirokastër Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering breathtaking views over the Drino Valley. We then have free time to explore the Old Bazaar, where traditional shops and cobbled streets reflect the town’s rich Ottoman heritage. Here, you may also enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before we continue to the Blue Eye, a remarkable natural spring with its vivid turquoise waters and lush surroundings. In the late afternoon, we make our way back to Tirana, arriving at around 20:00, where you may choose to rest at the hotel or head out for dinner at your leisure.

  DAY 7

Gjirokastër & the Blue Eye | Durres & Farewell Evening | Today is dedicated to relaxation and exploration at your own pace. We take a short drive of about 45 minutes to the coastal city of Durrës, one of the oldest cities in Albania. Here, you may choose to visit the Durrës Castle and its surrounding historic sites, enjoy a leisurely lunch by the Adriatic Sea, or simply take time for shopping and a seaside stroll. In the afternoon, we return to Tirana to rest and prepare for our final evening together. Dinner and free time follow, as we celebrate our last night in Albania.

  DAY 8

Departure | After breakfast, we transfer to Tirana International Airport, with the coach departing at 07:20 for our return flight at 10:00. We arrive back in Malta at 11:40, bringing our memorable Albanian journey to a close.
